Best Records of the Year 2020: 1-20

As promised yesterday, it's time to close the list of Best Records of 2020 with our Top 20. In a year of (worldwide) struggles, shortcomings, and forced introspection, music has had a balsamic effect. While listening the albums again in order to draft the list, we have seen sort of a trend (aside from a couple of exceptions and the Blog's trademark love for the Antipodean sounds) in the selection: an eerie, pensive, yet very warm vibe. Makes total sense. These are comforting, enduring songs against the uncertainty. Hope these are shared (or about to be) feelings with you all. So, enjoy the music and Happy 2021!

Best Records of the Year 2020: 40-21

Later than ever, we know... but December (more hospital visits) has been pretty hectic, somewhat fitting this surreal year, finally vanishing. Yet the time has arrived to unveil our Best Records of 2020! Like we did last year, we have maintained the number of 40 for the albums listed, splitting the post in two. The only difference being the inclusion of EPs within the list (as we haven't had a lot of them among our favourites this season). Therefore, here are our mandatory albums, "in charge of" our soundtrack in this excruciating 2020, starting with the LPs ranging from 40 to 21. A stunning harvest despite the times, really deserving a listen! And stay tuned, the Top 20 will be online tomorrow!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 274

Approaching the end of November... which means being assaulted by annnoying Black Friday ads and all sort of Christmas consumerism... even despite being in the midst of Covid's second wave (humans are the only animals capable of stumbling over the same rock twice, after all). Luckily, the time for an indigestion due too many Christmas tunes hasn't arrived yet, and there's still plenty of good music out there. Like the ten gathered in our latest TOP TEN JUKEBOX, a flamboyant and diverse collection for you to discover. Have a good weekend, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 273

As Nietzsche would say "life without music would be a mistake". And in case someone didn't fully agree, in this year of pandemic, big headaches and collective madness, this statement has completely made sense. Music and creativity have made akwardness and surrealism a little more bearable and understandable (as a matter of fact, it always has) and what a better way to prove it than letting yourself be embraced by the warm vibes of our latest TOP TEN JUKEBOX. Have a good Sunday, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 272

"Should we talk about the weather? (hi, hi, hi) / Should we talk about the government? (hi, hi, hi, hi)". All-time favourite band always knew what to sung about. But we propose you bring a companion to this long election week, or even take a little break from numbers, rates, and paranoid republicans alongside our latest TOP TEN JUKEBOX. Full of new findings and an overall pensive mood, as the grey skies and introspective times demand. Have a great weekend, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 271

November has arrived loaded, as tradition dictates, with chestnuts, sweet potatoes and 'panellets'... although this year is (quite obviously) different for everyone. Whatever the situation, we couldn't leave you without a playlist to accompany this weekend's autumnal celebrations. Our latest TOP TEN JUKEBOX is again moody, and full of new, exciting groups, awaiting for you to be discovered. And alongside the newbies, and too lift up your spirits a bit, a very special version of a The Cure gem by, no less, Mr. Berninger himself. Have a great Sunday (vote to kick out the bastard if you are in the States) and an even better beginning of the week. Oh, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 270

Fall has arrived, and with the change of the seasons, also the preface of a new confinement... Somewhat inevitable, this pensive and let's say, "holding pattern" state of mind has permeated our TOP TEN JUKEBOX, moody and ruminant (with a couple of vanishing, more upbeat, points), but with several stunning tracks, straight to the best-of-the year lists. "For everything, there is a season", the old bard used to sing, you know... Have a great week ahead, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 269

Some lessons to be learnt from this crazy year. Fascism is here and we need to fight it. And we have to get used to live in uncertainty and daily surprise. If the first one is utterly depressing, there's still hope (US elections around the corner and Greece justice condemning nazis). And the second one, it doesn't always mean to be a bad thing, because surprises sometimes brings us special things. Like the TOP TEN JUKEBOX we just prepared for you this week. Ten pretty eclectic songs, with several sunny gems to help you forget the main topics of 2020 for a while. But also some bold statements, including the recovery of a very special hymn for you (check the last tune), so apt in this liquid era... again. Have a great weekend ahead, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 268

Another extremely disgusting political week, thanks to far-right politicans here and there keeping with the destruction of democracy in order to retain or (miserably) obtain power. But here comes music to our rescue, a little glimpse gathered in our TOP TEN JUKEBOX. Whatever you want, we have you covered. Brilliant sociopolitical statements enveloped in knocking angular riffs, courtesy of Lawn's and Tough Age (sign us beloved Flying Nun!). An exciting dose of new discoveries, including Blog's trademark antipodean sounds. Ace newbies by Kevin Morby and dear Phil Sutton. Even a great cover of a Pulp's masterpiece by friends Desperate Journalist. A lot to get fuelled (and/or) distracted for a while from this somber times... Have a great weekend ahead, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

With our usual dose of exciting discoveries, more ace tunes from recent ones (Sinead O'Brien looks fated for the Best of the Year's lists) or surefires (Nothing, Parson Red Heads) and, topping the bill, the mighty (and beloved) Mountain Goats. Have a nice day, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 266

We are late again, we know (unexpected technical issues). But we have a TOP TEN JUKEBOX so full of exciting tunes that this Sunday will sound like a Friday. Because the playlist  below is not just a stunning collection of tunes. It's also an indiepop statement, topped with the great Amelia Fletcher, our beloved The Luxembourg Signal... plus the first single of the new album (we have listened to it, and granted, it's a "not to be missed" one) from our dear friend Jeremy 'The Very MostJensen! Add the usual dose of new discoveries (and sounds, from dreampop to rockier vibes) to the mix and there you have it: ten jewels to burn out the "on repeat mode" of the playlist. Have a nice day and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 265

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 264

The first week of work after the holiday break is over! Won't lie to you, it's never easy to return to routine, even more in this year of working from home and social distancing. But we believe we have overcome it quite well. Of course, with a serious lack of sleep, many emails to respond and some job inconsistencies, etc. But we don't want to bore you with personal issues, so here we leave you our new TOP TEN JUKEBOX full of new discoveries. In fact, except for The Treasures of Mexico, old acquaintances on the Blog, the rest of the bands have never appeared on the playlist. So, we encourage you to dive into the new sounds that we propose you and relax on this well-deserved weekend. Remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 263

We're back! Our fun, pleasant, battery-charging yet weird & masked holidays (altogether) are officially over. So it's time to return to our regular "duties", meaning a lot of music to listen and share with you. To begin with, here's our first TOP TEN JUKEBOX of the "season", full of stunning music, heavily relying in these infallible, aquatic sounds "from down under" (if you get what we mean...) as well as  exciting new finds. Have a nice weekend, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!

The Bloodbuzzed Jukebox Week 262

Right now, seems holidays won't be cancelled in the forthcoming days. So, while we keep our fingers crossed and make use of the air conditioning (is there a name for a recurrent heatwave?), here we are, facing our last week of work before we take a solid break this August. And we do so alongside very good tunes, like the ones gathered in our latest TOP TEN JUKEBOX, a mix between surefires (Angel Olsen, Fontaines D.C. or Whitney) and exciting new findings. Have a nice weekend, stay safe (and responsible) out there, and remember to join us at our Soundcloud page!
