After some really hard, anxious, shitty weeks full of hospitals, we can only say that WE ARE BACK. Or at least trying to get back to our normal routine and, for sure, to our beloved Blog and playlists. Because as Nietzsche would say 'without music, live would be a mistake', so here's our TOP TEN JUKEBOX. We have had more than twenty days to hear and gather new tunes, discovering some exciting bands along the way (we haven't got the time for writing, but we still listened) so we have had plenty to grab from. I've been unable, or just too angry/appalled to post anything since Wednesday morning. Almost 60 million people voted for a monster, period. Add it to Brexiters, corruption lovers here in Spain, or Nazi parties around Europe and you get the whole, devastating picture. Sure it's time for "deep" post-results analysis on what's wrong with democracies, politics, parties, media, etc. But it's also time to demand, before it's too late (very close now) responsibilities on citizens, the ones who voted. Pure & simple: idiocy is just an option, and can be reverted. I'll stop the rant here or I'll keep going for ages. For the time being, try to get some shelter and comfort doing the things you love... like listening to music. While we finish the traditional Best of the year so far posts (always a hard but pleasant task) here we have prepared a new TOP TEN Jukebox for you, a mixture between noisy, rockier and rough (always within the Blog's idiosyncrasy) and blissful, poppier and melodic. A couple of friends returning to form (The Fireworks' tune is a killer, Bubblegum Lemonade's classy), a little tribute to the great Bob Mould and the gloomy, terrific first song by Preoccupations (formerly Viet Cong). Indiepop Shop Talk Vol. 1: making a difference

A special feature today instead of our regular Sunday Discoverer Series, in the form of an incredible compilation of songs from members of the Indiepop Shop Talk Facebook group. Solidarity and great indiepop in a wonderful initiative.

Indiepop Shop Talk is a Facebook group for indiepop/shoegaze/retro pop/dream pop musicians/labels/bloggers, etc. where we discuss about music (playing, recording) and its promotion. It's a very nice community (for a humble blogger like me a very nice way to chat with amazing musicians you admire). But this time Indiepop Shop Talk has gone much further. Coordinated by Michaël Korchia from our beloved Watoo Watoo and with the bandcamp tasks carried out by our friend Jeremy Jensen from The Very Most, here's a stunning, never-ending collection of 50 indiepop tunes in all its diversity. A sonic document of what's Indiepop Shop Talk but also a generous way to contribute to a good cause, as all the compilation proceeds will be donated to UNICEF.

Now you know. For a tiny, ridiculous amount of money you can get 50 tunes from amazing bands like The Hi-Life Companion, Bubblegum Lemonade, Aberdeen, The King in Mirrors, Franny & Zooey, Postal Blue, Souvenir Stand, Star Tropics, etc, etc, etc, while you help kids around the world. Discoverer 67: new indie findings

New dose of band proposals this Sunday for your ears only, enjoy!

Bubblegum Lemonade. You know I love Strawberry Whiplash, the Glaswegian duo formed by Sandra and Lawrence "Laz" McCluskey. Today I want to introduce you the other Laz's band, something I've been postponing waiting for a new release. The wait is finally over. Almost a one-man-affair until now, Laz's has already given us three EPs and two albums, all in our beloved Matinée Recordings, between 2007 and 2010. And now he is back with more. "Have You Seen Faith?", out now is a flamboyant 7" of perfect jangle pop pills, full of killing guitars lines and choruses, that previews a forthcoming third album, "Some Like It Pop", set for release this autumn. Welcome back Laz!

Selebrities. Forget their unfortunate name. This three-piece (four live) based in Brooklyn debuted, after signing with Cascine Records, in 2010 with "Ladies Man Effect" EP, blossoming with single "We've Been Foolish" and first album "Delusions" in 2011. A growing buzz, touring with Craft Spells or Puro Instinct, and single "Night Heat" anticipated their sophomore LP, "Lovely Things", out this June. Cradled with Maria Usbeck's ethereal vocals, their atmospheric mixture of post-punk & synth pop, sounds like New Order injecting blood to The XX's ecstatic pace, or Kraftwerk swallowed by Mozzer's desperate romanticism. Hypnotic.
Night Flowers. Our last stop is in East London with a 2013 project product of Chris Hardy and Greg Ullyart, quickly expanded with Film Director Ryan Haysom, singers Hester Ullyart and Emma Stewart and drummer Zeb Budworth. That's all in terms of info available, but enough to embrace their first two songs (freely yours if you want it at their bandcamp) "Night Beds/North" unabashedly. A fragile 90's affair, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart immediately comes to mind on the first tune, while the female vocals on the second recalls on the dreamiest side of C-86 before guitars arrive. Here's a promising start.
