Stop Awful Covers 13

Not even in California you can hide from the artwork disasters. Here's another episode of our Awful Covers Series, several terrible examples of what musicians shouldn't allow to go on their album sleeves...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES
Arctic Monkeys: Do I Wanna Know?
Not really terrible, but again (remember their "White Album"?) very very little effort

TEEN: Carolina EP
Good band, but just terribly worrying bad taste with the image chosen

Melt Yourself Down:  Melt Yourself Down
Indeed, someone's brain was melting down while doing this

Aye Nako: Unleash Yourself
I disagree, you shouldn't unleash such bad taste for a cover...

Twin Peaks: Sunken
Ok, I admit I just don't get what's the artwork about. Mr. David Lynch please?

Devo: Something Else for Everybody
Devo "have to do" freaky covers I know, but that awful?

The Polyphonic Spre: Yes, It's True
Horrendous image, pink fonts...Yes, it's true, that's an album cover...

We are Scientists: Something About You
No animals on covers should be a rule. Can you see why? Hard to find a better example

Cansei de Ser Sexy: Planta
That's what I call taking things "too literally"

Stop Awful Covers 12

The nightmare continues. Here it is: twelfth chapter of the Awful Covers Series. Sorry about that...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES
Black Lips and Icky Blossoms:  Cowboy Knights
Arrrrgh!! What more can be said?

My Home, Sinking: My Home, Sinking
The cover, also sinking

King Tuff:  Was Dead
I would have committed suicide with that artwork too

Hooded Fang: Gravez
?????? Still figuring out what is this...

Portugal. The Man: Evil Friends
Indeed a very very evil friend of the band the person who designed that for them

Animal Collective: Monkey Been to Burn the Town
From the creators of "Centipede Hz" now... more awfulness!

Bastille: Laura Palmer
Not even David Lynch would choose that for a cover...

TV Girl: Our First 2 EPs
They probably don't like their first 2 EPs that much...

Disclosure: Settle
Annoying face drawings is their trademark feature, so here's his annoying debut artwork

Stop Awful Covers 11

The eleventh chapter of the Awful Covers Series is here... in all its glorious bad taste. Another round of atrocious sleeves to show you how a musician can ruin and disrespect his/her work. Please stop...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES

 Wampire:  Curiosity
The only curiosity is knowing which kind of drug they took when they decided to this sleeve.
Jai PaulJai Paul
Definition of kitsch or tacky? Poor animals, is not their fault.

Shannon and the Clams: Dreams in the Rat House
There's at least one hobbit missing here... plus some good taste.

Guided By Voices: Noble Insect
More about animals from a band that repeats here. The insect can be noble, but the sleeve designer...

Brooke Waggoner: Originator
More on Lord of the Rings. This must be an homage to Galadriel without the 281 million $.

  Niagara: Otto
Or regular dose of zero work comes punctual to its date. Now in pink.
Pintandwefall: Be My Baby
What the hell is that? Wouldn't be your baby even if there would be the only chance to mankind to survive.
Deep Purple: Now What?!
Now what? My advice is retirement.. or at least change the artwork, please (this one is dedicated to my dad).

Stop Awful Covers 10

Can you believe this is the tenth Awful Covers Series? Ten posts already. I'm starting to assume, with utter sadness, this will never end... Bad taste rules music world. Please musicians, respect your music and your fans. Please stop...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES

The Oh Sees: Floating Coffin
Food on covers is always a very risky choice. But this are just disgusting strawberries

 Morrissey:  Kill Uncle
Not the first time Bigmouth is featured here. It's always me, myself and I with him.

The Knife: Shaking the Habitual
You are known as an intriguing, even subversive band. And from know on, also as the responsible of a very lame sleeve.

Har Mar Superstar: Bye Bye 17
Terrible record title & group name. And where's Bruce Lee touching his nose before kicking your ass?

Tropical Popsicle: Dawn of Delight
I just found a goldmine. Promise you it won't be the last time this band appears here...regrettably

TelekinesisDormarion
Of course, our regular dose of zero work on an artwork. Very little mental effort.

Saez: Miami
I know I know, but I promise you this is not a hip-hop sleeve.

Fangoria: Cuatricomía
And to the end this round of disasters, a Spanish veteran reference, amazingly tacky.

Stop Awful Covers 9

Here we go again, this is a nightmare that never seems to end... the disaster goes on and on. When selecting this latest chapter of the Awful Covers Series I had hundreds of horrible covers to choose among... Bad taste spreading. Please musicians, think about what you are doing to your art. Please stop...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES
Phoenix: Bankrupt!
Sure the nicest  cover of the lot, but the French band's new sleeve is seriously disappointing . Looks inviting to you? To me looks really boring...

Keaton Henson: Birthdays
Nothing to celebrate with that disgusting figurine on top of a cake.

 The Night Marchers:  Allez! Allez!
Where do I begin? Creepy, disgusting, lame, _____ (add your own).

Strange Talk: Cast Away
The more I look, the more I'm convinced the Empire of the Sun' folks  will appear anytime soon  from behind that .... well, thing.

Teen Suicide: Rarities, Unreleased Stuff, And Cool Things
Where do I begin, part 2? This is just ridiculous. Why someone would like to put out a cover like this one?

Comanechi: You Owe Me Nothing But Love
I think the band owes their fans an apology for that, too...

They Might Be GiantsNanobots EP
The idea, mixing  classic art with nanobots could have been curious (ejem)... but the results... are not.

Eric Clapton: Old Sock
"Slow Hand" at his lowest moment. Same person who cheated Neil Young did it again.

Stop Awful Covers 8

A new year has begun... but the disaster continues. I'm just selecting new or just announced covers from forthcoming releases on this 2013. They all compound the disgusting latest chapter of this Awful Covers Series, showing there's a year ahead full of music... but also full of bad taste. Please musicians, think about what you are doing to your art. Please stop...

ARTWORK ATROCITIES
Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Mosquito
Even bands I love commit visual atrocities. Will be the first record I won't bother buying from the group. No matter what the author says to justify his creation, it's horrible.

Mystical Weapons: Mystical Weapons
I get the "weapons" thing, but where's the mystic? Can only see awfulness here...

SBTRKT: Live
A wolf? A mask? Whatever, this is just a very very poor work.

Hookworms: Psych for Sore Eyes EP
I see the ad: Enjoy the ugliness in 3D! Yes my friends, add a new dimension to bad taste!

Tilbury: Exorcise
At least the title is quite appropriate. If you are high on something... that is.

Tall Firs: Out of It and Into It
Contradictory title, but I quickly align myself among the ones completely out of it. No doubt.

Foxygen: We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace And Magic Another interesting match between artwork and album title. Bad album title, equally bad album art.

David Bowie: The Next Day
"Often the most simple ideas can be the most radical", say the sleeve designers of Bowie's forthcoming record. And its true, but not in this case. This is just laziness and lack of effort, and as they also say, the result is "an album cover with a white square on it".
